“It’s-a me, Mario!”
Nintendo’s biggest video game icon, Mario, is jumping into the big screen with actor Chris Pratt’s voice bringing him to life. Illumination has confirmed the A-list voice cast for their upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie, with Pratt headlining the casting announcement.
Joining the star of Guardians of The Galaxy, The Lego Movie, and Jurassic World are Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike, and cameos from Charles Martinet.
Chris Meledandri of Illumination is producing the film with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic of Teen Titans Go! are directing from a script by Matthew Fogel, whose credits include The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part and the upcoming film Minions: The Rise of Gru.
The Super Mario Bros. movie is set to be released in theaters on December 21, 2022.
