Anime director Makoto Shinkai, who is best known for the films Your Name and Weathering With You, has just unveiled his upcoming film Suzume no Tojimare (Suzume Locking Up The Doors) with its first key art.
The poster features a white door surrounded by water and remnants of mossy and decayed buildings, which will remind viewers of Shinkai’s Weathering With You. Check it out below:
The new film will follow the 17-year-old Suzumi whose quiet life in Kyushu is forever changed after she meets a young man looking for a door. After finding the old door surrounded by modern ruins up in the mountains, Suzumi’s mysterious quest begins to unfold.
Joining Shinkai in the creation of this film are Masayoshi Tanaka who serves as character designer; Kenichi Tsuchiya as the animation director; and Takumi Tanji as the art director. Details about its voice cast are yet to be revealed. Suzume no Tojimare is slated for release in Japan in fall 2022.
