Gal Gadot in Talks of Playing the Evil Queen in Live-Action Remake of ‘Snow White’

You read that right! Gal Gadot is said to be in final negotiations to play the Evil Queen in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White! Once finalized, the 36-year-old actress will be starring alongside West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler, who’ll be playing the titular Disney Princess.

The 1938 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs cartoon is said to be the title that kicked off Disney’s amazing slate of animated features. It’s based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, which tells the story of Snow White — a princess who’s been exiled by her stepmother, the Evil Queen. She then runs into a forest, where she is rescued by seven dwarfs who form a unique friendship with her.

The upcoming live-action remake comes from director Marc Webb, whose previous works include 500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Marc Platt producing.

According to Deadline, insiders have also said that the live-action film will be expanding on the story and music of the original film. It’s also said to be featuring music from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul — the Oscar and Tony-winning duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and Dear Evan Hansen.

Production for the live-action Snow White remake kicks off in 2022. While waiting for more information on this upcoming project, you can catch Gal Gadot in the upcoming Netflix film Red Notice, premiering this November 12.
